Hvedholm is first mentioned in 1475, when it was still a modestly sized half-timbered farm. In 1588 the main building was rebuilt into a three-wing building with towers. After a fire devastated the building, it was rebuilt in 1681. Between 1878 and 1882 it got its current appearance.
