Tips
Marmots are widespread throughout the Alpine region, mostly at altitudes between 900 and 2500 meters. The marmot prefers to live in alpine, rocky grasslands or in stone fields with patchy herbaceous vegetation. It builds its extensive cave system, often expanded over generations, particularly on sunny south-facing slopes where the snow melts early. You can hear them before you see them.
