The single-sided steel drawbridge was built in 1930 and put into service in 1932. In the years 1993 to 1994 it was extensively renovated.

The bridge can be used by railway vehicles, cars, pedestrians and cyclists. It is covered on the land side by mechanical barrier booms and bridge cover signals, the follow-up dependency with back lock is established by manual locks. There are four fixed opening times per working day, and two more times on Sundays and public holidays. On special occasions, an extra opening can be registered with the building authority.
