Durbuy is certainly an old town. It was first mentioned in 1078 (as Dolbui) and in 1084 under its current name. In 1240, Durbuy was referred to as Durboius. The Celtic word 'Duron,' hidden in Durbuy, is interpreted as "fortress" in the town's context, and thus has the same root as the words deur (here also meaning gate) and door (door) in English.

It's not the smallest town in the world. Nor is it the smallest town in Belgium, to elaborate on other comments. That honor goes to Mesen in West Flanders.
