The wooded and water-rich area at the Greifenbachstauweiher offers very favorable conditions for water extraction. The high plateau with closed forest area has an average annual precipitation of more than 1000 mm. The only moderate slope of the terrain and the good storage capacity of the soil ensure a relatively constant flow rate even in times of low precipitation and thus offered ideal conditions for the construction of an artificial ditch.
