St. Crescentius Parish Church Naumburg

Church with components from the 14th century.
The oldest components of the Catholic Churches have been preserved from the beginning of the 14th century. In the outer masonry of the tower basement there is a building inscription with the Mainz coat of arms and the year 1512. In its current baroque form, it is dedicated to St. Creszen's consecrated parish church was built after the city fire of 1684. The three-aisled parish church was inaugurated in 1692. The interior of the church underwent a neo-Gothic redesign in 1896/97, and an interior renovation took place in 1992. The nave and choir received a new slate roof in 2010/2011, and the outer facade was plastered. In 2019/2020, as part of a general renovation, among other things: A new heating system was installed and the access to the gallery was relocated.
A baroque confessional and sandstone sculptures are worth seeing, of which the "Naumburg Madonna" from around 1340 is particularly noteworthy. Gravestones from the 16th and 17th centuries have been erected in the churchyard, which served as a burial site until 1577.
