Abandoned Section of the Staudenbahn Railway

In 1912, the 42 km long railway line from Gessertshausen to Ettringen was opened. In 1983, rail traffic between Markt Wald and Ettringen was stopped because it was no longer passable. In 1996, passenger traffic was also stopped on the remaining section from Gessertshausen to Markt Wald.
The dilapidated track between Markt and Ettringen is almost completely intact, with a few exceptions, but is heavily overgrown.
