The most famous inmates were the master thief Lasse Maja, who, after five years in prison, worked in the prison kitchen for another 15 years, was pardoned by the king (as the only inmate) for his culinary skills, and appointed royal chef;
and the only woman, Metta Fock, who was presumably imprisoned innocently and eventually executed.
