The cemetery is located at the southern end of the village of Mała Kępa.
Mała Kępa was inhabited by Olęder settlers, the oldest mentions of which in the registers of settlement contracts found in the archives of the city of Chełmża date back to 1621. This is probably the oldest trace of Olęder settlement in the then Royal Prussia.
