Since excavations began in 1994, Greek archaeologists from the University of Ioannina suspect that this complex is the legendary palace. The site is located on the eastern slopes of Mount Exogi.
Remains of a three-story Mycenaean palace complex from the 13th century BC have been discovered.
The theory is supported by finds such as a terracotta mask inscribed "Dedicated to Odysseus" and seal impressions bearing the hero's name.
The location offers wide sea views, which is consistent with Homer's descriptions in the Odyssey.
