The Neuzelle monastery was founded in 1268 by Margrave Heinrich the Illustrious. Originally built in the brick Gothic style on a rock spur above the Oder, it was badly destroyed twice. In 1650, after the Peace of Westphalia, the monks returned to the monastery that had been destroyed in the Thirty Years' War. It was gradually rebuilt in the South German Baroque style. In 1817 the monastery was secularized by the Prussian king.
The Neuzelle Monastery Foundation was founded in 1996. The baroque garden was restored to its original condition in 2022.

For me, the Neuzelle monastery is one of the most beautiful in Brandenburg. Right next to the brewery is the monastery pond, the monastery and the beautiful and very well-kept monastery garden.
The monastery is accessible for free.
