The chapel in Hausgereut had St. James, Mary Magdalene and St. Nicholas as its patron saints in 1289, and from 1421 only St. Nicholas. Medieval frescoes show scenes from the life of the saint. The church building was called a "capella" in 1280 and an "oratorium" in 1289. Two documents from 1283 and 1288 attest to the separation from the mother parish of Kork. However, it took another six years until the parish of Hausgereut was endowed with the necessary assets and in possession of all parish rights in 1288.

The fact that its residents were still obliged to undertake four processions to Kork every year - at Christmas, Easter, Pentecost and St. Brigida - was a common custom when new parishes separated from old ones. With the introduction of the Reformation, the little church was no longer needed and the parish was assigned to Rheinbischofsheim as a branch. In 1956, the church was renovated and the frescoes in the choir were uncovered. Since then, services and church concerts have been held in the chapel again.
