The Rhine-Herne Canal is a federal waterway in North Rhine-Westphalia. As part of the West German canal network, the approximately 46 km long canal route has been running across the Ruhr area since 1914 and largely follows the Emscher valley. Between Duisburg in the west and Castrop-Rauxel in the east, the canal climbs a total of 36 meters in five steps.
Beautiful bike paths.
