Built on a narrow rocky spine facing the Baume rock bordering the other bank of the Durance, the citadel of Sisteron dominates the town. It includes bastion enclosures and a keep. Its origin dates from the 13th, even the 12th century. Largely destroyed in 1944, the citadel was the subject of a vast restoration plan.
Finally, a walk to the top of the citadel offers one of the most spectacular views in the region.

There is a beautiful view from the stone bridge over the Durance.
