    Local history museum Göpelschauer Seestermühe

Thanks to the commitment of a few seester workers, the circle of Göpelschauer friends has grown again! This makes it possible for the local history museum "Göpelschauer" to be able to open again every Sunday from May to October 3 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. after the season opening on May 1st! As an additional offer, there is the “Schnack am Deich” every 1st Sunday of the month!

We look forward to many visitors who want to view our exhibits from home economics, fruit growing, agriculture and water management in the Göpelschauer!

The idea of preserving the ruins of the old Göpelschauer and setting up a village museum for old household and agricultural equipment there after the building was repaired first came up in Seestermühe in 1983.

With the financial support of the municipality of Seestermühe, the district of Pinneberg, the state of Schleswig-Holstein and a donation from local poet Magreta Brandt, it was possible to completely refurbish the historic building. Old building material from the previously demolished double barn in the neighborhood was used for the restoration. The thatched roof was provided with thatch from the Eschschallen. All work was carried out by the citizens of Seestermüh themselves.

Since 1994, the village museum has been open to everyone from May 1st to September 30th. Interested and committed villagers work on a voluntary basis, they lead tours and take care of the inventory and the building.

Typical handicraft and household appliances from the Elbmarsch from the 19th to the early 20th century are on display, as well as one of the first electric washing machines to appear on the market.

A little hidden, just take a closer look.
Small museum but definitely worth a visit. You can still remember some things
