The Church of St. Peter and Paul is the second oldest church on the island. It was consecrated by the former Bishop Egino of Verona in 799. Its interior was richly decorated from the very beginning. The painting in the apse, still visible today, dates from 1104-1105 and is divided into three sections. The uppermost section depicts the Majestas Domini, accompanied by the symbols of the four evangelists. Around 1750, the church underwent a comprehensive redesign in the Rococo style.

The second oldest church on the island, based on its date of construction, is St. Peter and Paul. Founded by the former Bishop Egino of Verona, who came from a noble Alemannic family, it was consecrated in 799. The church as it exists today is a three-aisled basilica. It was built in the 11th century, partially on the original foundations, after the demolition of the old St. Peter's Church.
