The Stachelburg residence in Nalles dates from the second half of the 16th century, i.e. from the early Renaissance. Above all, a decorative castle was the aim of the builders: The spiked castle is decorated with a few bay windows, a staircase, wooden ceilings and pretty paintings. The Habsburg and Tyrolean coats of arms can still be seen on a small tower. At the entrance to the Stachelburg there used to be a stone from Roman times, which can now be seen in the Bolzano City Museum.
The name of the residence goes back to the Counts of Stachlburg, whose ancestral seat is the Stachlburg (or Stachelburg) in Parcines. In the 16th century, Georg Stachl, formerly the caretaker at Vorst Castle near Algund, was ennobled by the emperor with the title "von Stachlburg". The Stachelburg in Nalles served as the administrator's house for the Counts of Stachlburg, who owned the Kasatsch castle ruins above Nalles.
The Stachelburg has been privately owned for several generations. The Dalla Corte family has been running a snack station, the well-known Stachelburgkeller, in the old walls for several decades. And autumn time is Törggele time here!
