On the facade of John Lynn & Sons (The Arch Bar) in Market Street, you'll find two iconic murals that summarise the Irish struggle for freedom. On one side, you see Kathleen ni Houlihan, the mythical personification of Ireland from the play by W.B. Yeats (linked to the French landing in 1798). On the other side, there is the portrait of Dr. Kathleen Lynn, born in Killala, a revolutionary and doctor who fought during the 1916 Easter Rising. A unique place where literature and history meet.
