Trinity Square Gardens, established in 1797 by Samuel Wyatt, provides a beautiful setting for Trinity House and contains several significant memorials honoring merchant seamen. The impressive Grade I-listed Merchant Navy Memorial's First World War section was unveiled in 1928 by Queen Mary, while the Second World War section, designed as a sunken garden to avoid overshadowing the original memorial, was unveiled by Queen Elizabeth II in 1955. When visiting, don't miss the adjacent Grade II* listed building at 10 Trinity Square, originally the Port of London Authority headquarters completed in 1922, which has been transformed into a luxurious Four Seasons hotel that opened in January 2017.
