This bridge keeper's house on Brugwachterskade in Lanklaar (Dilsen-Stokkem) was built around 1841. Until 1934 it served as the bridge keeper's house on the original swing bridge over the old canal branch of the Zuid-Willemsvaart. This swing bridge was blown up during World War II and later replaced by a fixed bridge. In 1986 the building was restored by the history and homeowner Kring "De Vreedsel" with the support of the King Baudouin Foundation. The building has been a listed building since 2001.
