The St. Sebastian Chapel in Kiefersfelden is a monument of gratitude for the fact that the town was spared from the death toll of a plague epidemic in 1611 that threatened to spread from the neighborhood.

The exact year the chapel was built is not known, but it was completed in 1631.

Every year in January the Sebastiani procession takes place to the chapel in Kiefersfelden as a thank you to St. Sebastian.

Other processions to the chapel take place throughout the year at the Kieferer Fest (1st parish festival of the Holy Cross parish church) and on Corpus Christi (1st station of the Corpus Christi procession).
