The Western Scheldt is the estuary of the Scheldt. As a rule, the part from the Belgian-Dutch border to the North Sea is called the Western Scheldt, from the Belgian-Dutch border via Antwerp to Ghent, the name Zeeschelde is. The westernmost part of the Western Scheldt has two main waterways to the North Sea. The Wielingen is the largest and is used by shipping to the Southern North Sea. Shipping to the north uses the Oostgat, a relatively narrow waterway along the southwestern coast of Walcheren. The deepest point of the Western Scheldt is near Borssele, where the estuary reaches a depth of 67 meters below NAP. This is also the deepest point of the Dutch continental shelf.Source Wikipedia
