Haubersbronn Wieslaufwehr was built for the Wieslauf rafting
From 1746 until the first half of the 19th century, firewood was rafted on the Wieslauf for Stuttgart and Ludwigsburg. Loose firewood, about 1.20 m long, was washed away and thrown into the riverbed at a point below the Ebniseedamm. Then the slider was opened, the water flowing out of the lake washed the logs on the Wieslauf to Schorndorf and from there further down the valley on the Rems. The dammed water of the Ebnisee was enough for five to six days of rafting. So-called boot jacks were posted every 50 meters along the river, named after their shoes, and used long poles to ensure that the logs stayed in the current and drifted down the valley. They also had to stop wood theft.
