The Tiefburg, also called Burg Handschuhsheim, is the ruin of a medieval moated castle in the Heidelberg district of Handschuhsheim northwest in Baden-Württemberg. The castle is located as a stronghold of the former village center of glove home and was once surrounded by a fed by the mill stream 12 meter wide moat. When and by whom the Tiefburg was built, is uncertain. Maybe it was already created in the early Middle Ages as a fortified building. From traditions of the 13th and 14th century shows that it was a moated castle. In the Thirty Years' War, the castle suffered severe damage.
At the northeast corner of the plant is still the walled inflow to the ditch visible. The connecting channel was used after its drainage as access to the neighboring manor. The walling of the entire complex has been preserved fragmentarily in the surrounding plots. 🚴♂️
