The cemetery was established after 1804. The oldest tombstone dates back to 1864. Until 1830, it was a Catholic and Uniate necropolis, and after that year, Catholic and Orthodox.
The cemetery contains a historic Catholic chapel of St. John the Baptist, built in 1840-1848. Currently undergoing a general renovation.
The second, much newer chapel, stands on the site of the Orthodox cemetery chapel that burned down in 2000.
