The tiny Kartitscher district Hollbruck consists of only a few houses - but home to the impressive pilgrimage church of Mary Help.
In the late 17th century, an old lady from Hollbruck returned from a church visit from St. Oswald. When she left St. Oswald, she discovered a picture of Mary in her basket. Startled, she brought it back to church. On her way home to Hollbruck, she kept thinking of the picture. When she arrived home, she found the image of Mary in her basket again. Full of amazement, she carried it gently into the small, old wooden chapel of the village. Quickly the story spoke of the image of Mary. Soon there were so many pilgrims that the small wooden chapel was replaced by the magnificent church.
A look into the pilgrimage church is well worth it!
