The Roman Baths of San Lázaro are located in Mérida and are an impressive example of Roman engineering.
These baths were built at the beginning of the 2nd century on the remains of an industrial facility.
They had a large changing room, a steam room, two hot water pools and one cold water pool. The heat was generated through an underground fire chamber and a heating system in the walls.
The baths also included a sports arena and a large outdoor swimming pool. Today, these archaeological remains can be visited and explored and offer a fascinating insight into life in ancient Rome.
