Economy versus naturalness: not a word about the plant species that are not stable on sandy soils. Conifers are shallow roots and require mineral rocky soil and were only found in high mountains. Even in the Middle Ages, all of Germany, with the exception of the Alps, was a swampy empire of moors and swamps and floodplain forests without a single conifer - as is still the case in Hungary today. This meant abundance of water, which the subsequent industrialization and National Socialist urbanization put an end to and led to modern water poverty.
