The church was built at the end of the 13th century. It was a small, oriented, hall-like, brick building without a tower. The tower was not added until 1861. This also involved the re-building of the western portal. In 1933, the eastern portal was re-built, the interior was renovated, and the ceiling polychromes were refreshed. The church survived World War II without damage and was taken over by the Catholics in 1945.
