The first documentary mention Husum in a document from the year 1250. A fire destroyed in 1774 a large part of the village and the 1250 built church building.
Together with the places Bolsehle, United Varlingen and Schessinghausen Husum was summarized in the course of the territorial reform on 1 March 1974 to the new municipality Husum and integrated into the velvet municipality Landesbergen, which in 2011 merged into the integrated municipality Mittelweser.
