Story:
In the Middle Ages, the Rauschenburg was probably inhabited as an episcopal feud by the Lord of Sunderhues. In 1578 Kleyhorst von Meverden sold the castle to Joanßen von Müninghausen. After numerous changes of ownership, the castle was sold to Clemens August von Galen in 1774. In 1800 the complex came into the hands of the bourgeoisie and was resold plot by plot. (S. Eismann)
