The property belonged to the von Rhede family and was transferred to the Bocholt Poor Clares' monastery in 1323. In 1570 it belonged to the von Rhemen family, who built a noble house with an octagonal tower here. It was probably destroyed in the Thirty Years' War, only the tower remains. It was probably rebuilt in its current form between 1655 and 1669. The resulting 2-storey manor house is typical of a small Westphalian moated castle, the so-called "Feste Haus". The moat (surrounding moat) is still completely intact. As is part of the gatehouse from the 18th century.
The house served as temporary accommodation for the Poor Clares' sisters at the end of the Second World War. The commercial vocational school also used this building for a while. It was thoroughly renovated in 1996 and is now privately owned. (Source: display in front of the building)
