For the creation of the Allentsteig military training area (originally Döllersheim military training area), over 40 villages, hamlets, and mills in the Waldviertel region of Lower Austria were cleared between 1938 and 1941. Around 6,800 people from a total of 42 localities were forcibly resettled.

Döllersheim was a very old place; a Chunradus des Tolesheim already documented in 1143, 1272 a Rapoto de Tolrshaim, whose castle probably stood on the hill next to the parish church. 1427 destruction by the Hussites, 1620 again burned down. In 1938, the market town was evacuated due to the establishment of the military training area, 1943 destruction of the villages by training fire.
