Peene Bridge Wolgast

View of the bridge over the Peenestrom from the east side. From here you can start many cycle tours on Usedom. A new high bridge to the island of Usedom will soon be built here near Wolgast, which will then benefit cyclists with less traffic on this "old" bridge.

The combined car-railway pedestrian bridge ended after its completion, the decades-long back and forth of the train travelers on foot between the stations Wolgast Harbor and Wolgast Ferry.

The hatch of the new bridge is 19 m wide and 42 m long and is raised by 45 kW motors. Due to its blue color, the counterweight of the bridge is visible from a distance. Raising the drawbridge opens a navigation channel 30.75 meters wide. The total length of the bridge structure is 247 m. 2289 tons of steel were used for its construction and the construction cost was 104 million DM.
