Location: Rinteln, Landkreis Schaumburg, Lower Saxony, Germany
The visitor enters the castle through the gatehouse of the outer bailey.
Above its Gothic basement was the Drosten apartment, redesigned in the early 17th century. The "Welsche bonnet" of the gate tower as well as the half-timbered extension are additions to the renovation of 1908. The half-timbered designed with fan rosettes comes in part from a town house that was demolished in Osnabrück. The door to the right in the tower hall leads to a prison that was built in around 1800. There were two cells that could be heated from an anteroom.
