This estate contains a large country house dating from 1818. In Van Gogh's time, the residents of the house were closely associated with the Dutch Reformed Church.

The history of the estate goes back to 1544. That was when Jan Snellen bought the land. The 250-hectare estate has been in the possession of the same family ever since. The Moeren country house, built in 1810, is located at Rucphenseweg 37 in Zundert. A special feature of the country house is the bell tower from 1663, which originates from the Wernhout courthouse that was dismantled in 1799. The estate is still managed by the Van der Hoeven family.

The De Moeren estate is located in Klein-Zundert, in the direction of Schijf and Rucphen, and is still owned by the Van der Hoeven family. This Protestant family acquired the land in the sixteenth century from the lord of Breda, originally for peat extraction. The historic café In den Anker, which dates from that time, is still a landmark. Later, forests were planted and the estate was transformed into a beautiful country estate.
