The monument was donated by the iron works on the occasion of the 100th birthday of Baron Karl-Ferdinand von Stumm-Halberg in 1936. The figure of the iron foundryman is the result of an artistic competition held by Prof. Fritz Claus, head of the sculpture class at the State Art School in Saarbücken.
The cast iron figure stands on a 4 meter high pedestal that slopes down
rejuvenates and adapts so nicely to the location on the Hüttenberg.
