Tips

  • The Douron, a small coastal river of 38 km, has its source in Scrignac and flows into the English Channel between Locquirec and Plestin-les-Grèves. It crosses landscapes of peat bogs, wet meadows, woods and bocage. The valley is home to unique animal species such as otters, Atlantic salmon, bats…. The estuary part, between Pont Menou and the Cornic bridge, winds between meanders and offers a complete ecosystem made up of cliffs, wooded areas, wet meadows, mudflats and salt meadows. This mosaic of environments hosts a concentration of plant and animal species.
At low tide, the mudflat is a resting and feeding area for many birds. The estuary is extended by volcanic cliffs of very ancient origin which opens the perspective on the bay of Lannion.
