The Aquelcabos bridge, known as the Roman bridge, is the oldest in Arenas de San Pedro. Built in the 11th century on a previous Roman bridge, it was widely used by travelers and nomadic shepherds, who paid a toll. It consists of three arches, the central one being the largest. Its pavement has been restored with paving similar to the original and has stone parapets one meter high, with some parts repaired with cement.

From the Aquelcalbos Bridge you can see the other bridge that was built to support the weight of heavier vehicles, where the road that leads to the beautiful town of Candeleda begins. From the 14th century and over the Arenal River, the beautiful medieval bridge of Aquelcabos can be perfectly observed and photographed from the road.
