The Church is a living and sacred space for rest, prayer and worship
The first church was a wooden church, built in 1706-07. At the end of the 18th century it became too small, so in 1813 a new neoclassical stone church was built on the northern shore of Lake Mangen.
The single-nave church is a good example of church architecture in Sweden at the beginning of the 19th century. In order to give the sermon a more prominent role, the altarpiece of the old church was converted into a combined altar/pulpit.
Sights in the church:
The altarpiece shows Christ crucified with Mary and John the Apostle.
Originally bought in 1757 for the old church, it was designed in the provincial baroque style by the famous sculptor Isac Schullström, who also made the winged angel on the south wall. The decorations on the pulpit probably come from the old church.
The cemetery:
There are wrought iron crosses near the church, reflecting the activities of the local blacksmiths.
