Hiking
Kjelvik is an uninhabited place with a few houses used as summer homes. Kjelvik used to be the largest town on the island of Mageroya, but due to its remote location this increasingly shifted in favor of Honningsvåg. Kjelvik was completely destroyed in the Second World War. Kjelvik can be reached both by boat and on foot via a hiking trail that zigzags down the cliff, partially secured with ropes/chains.

Hiking
Visited Kjelvik several times in the 80s and 90s. Back then, Ottar lived with his wife and two children most of the time in Kjelvik. When we were there, I made sure the graveyard was kept - mowed with a scythe.
