The Galleria Spada is a museum in Rome, located in the Palazzo Spada on Piazza Capodiferro. This beautiful palazzo is also known for its facade and the perspective gallery designed by Francesco Borromini. The gallery exhibits paintings from the 16th and 17th centuries.

Hiking

History: The structure was built in the mid-16th century by order of Cardinal Girolamo Capodiffero. The architects Giulio Merisi, Giulio Mazzoni and Girolamo da Carpi were responsible for the construction. Later, when the building was sold to Cardinal Bernardino Spada in 1631, Francesco Borromini carried out some renovations. The palazzo served as an art collection for the Spada family, with both Bernardino and his brother Virginio Spada and the legacy of Orazio Spada contributing works of art. In 1927, the Italian state bought the building and housed the Council of State.
