The Persgletscher (Rhaeto-Romanic Vadret Pers?/i) (Rhaeto-Romanic pers past participle 'lost' to perder for 'lose' [1]) is a valley glacier in the Bernina Group (part of the Bernina Alps) in the south of the Swiss canton of Graubünden. It is 4 km long, up to 1.5 km wide in the upper part and covers an area of approximately 6 km². The starting point of the Pers Glacier with numerous firn fields is on the northern flank of the Piz Palü, over which the border between Italy and Switzerland runs, and on the Piz Cambrena (3602 m). The glacier is connected to the south via the firn-covered pass Fuorcla Bellavista (3688 m) to the Altipiano di Fellaria, an extensive plateau glacier on the Italian side of the Bernina massif.

The Pers Glacier flows northwards at a relatively low gradient of 10 to 15% and gradually turns westwards at the southern foot of Munt Pers (3206 m). In the past, it flowed into the Morteratsch Glacier via a steeper slope. In the summer of 2015, however, the Pers Glacier melted back so much that the connection between the two glacier tongues was broken.[2]
On the Diavolezza, a mountain ridge between the Munt Pers and the Piz Trovat north-east of the Pers glacier, is the mountain station of the Bernina-Diavolezza cable car at 2973 m with a view of the Bernina massif and the Pers and Morteratsch glaciers. [Q:Wikipedia]
