    The Naiad is the goddess of all springs and rivers. The Najade laid down on the moat in 1991. Rik Poot designed the sculpture that should make us believe what the water nymphs of Greek mythology would have looked like. In Greek mythology you had Dryades and Naiades. The Dryads protected the forests and the Naiades the waters. Rik Poot came from Vilvoorde and also made the copper fist that is set up in front of the old Renault factories. The copper bust of Jean-Luc De Haene in parliament is also a work by Poot. The artist can be regarded as the greatest copper founder in Belgium. The Najade is a gift from the Flemish Community.
