The area near the Gumpen at the upper Königsbach waterfall is closed to prevent damage to and dangers to the flora and fauna caused by visitors. You can find the ordinance, including the marked area, both in the Official Gazette No. 26 of June 29, 2021 (District Office Berchtesgadener Land) and on the website of the Berchtesgaden National Park under the tab "Service-Publications-Regulations".

It should not go unmentioned that there have been several fatal accidents caused by falls and drowning at the Königsbach Falls in recent years! It is not for nothing that the national park administration warns against going to the Königsbach Falls. Unfortunately, many people here confuse recklessness with adventure and overestimate themselves.
