    Hiking

Despite having a name that infers reaching the summit, this primitive trail sidehills across the flank of Mount McGinnis, often using small rock cairns for guidance in the brushiest sections, before petering out in a mountain basin.

Although some hikers do choose their own off-trail route to the summit of Mount McGinnis, be aware that it's very easy to get lost here — especially if clouds or fog roll in.

The Forest Service warns that avalanche hazard may persist on this trail into early summer.
