This is a covered space, originally conceived as a market, with eighty-six fluted columns. The roof consists of small domes built using the Catalan vaulting technique and covered with trencads (mosaic of broken bricks), with circular panels designed by the architect Josep Maria Jujol.

The Hypostyle Hall (Sala Hipòstila) in Park Güell in Barcelona was originally designed by Antoni Gaudí as a covered marketplace for a planned garden city. It consists of 86 columns in the Doric style, some slightly inclined, which also serve as a supporting foundation for the large viewing plaza above. The magnificent ceiling vault captivates with delicate mosaics made of colorful ceramic shards (Trencadís) and forms one of the architectural highlights of the entire UNESCO World Heritage site.
