The Torrens Weir was built between 1880 and 1881 to replace an earlier wooden structure built by prison labour. To this day, this concrete weir holds back the River Torrens water to create the Torrens Lake that runs through the heart of the Adelaide centre. On the east side of the weir there are information panels to read up on, a water bubbler to refill your bottle, and a paved pathway to cross the weir.
