The post mill in Dettum was built in 1863 and is more than 150 years old. It was built by the carpenter Christian Roßmann and put into operation on July 16, 1863.
In autumn 2016, the Dettum post windmill was dismantled at the old location on the property of the former miller Alfred Weste. At the beginning of spring 2017, the mill was rebuilt about 80 meters further west. This time on the mill association's own property, which it had acquired from the subsequent owner of the mill property.
Access to the mill is now via a new bridge over the Beeke directly onto the mill property. Since mid-2017, there has been a low-rise wooden house with a storage room and lounge for the mill association on the eastern border of the property.

There is a cozy café next to this windmill. The mill is something for the eyes and the area is ideal for cycling.
