This (private) house is the outstanding attraction of Villa Soriano. It is decorated with numerous masks, some of which were created with great and hearty humor.
Dozens of masks hang on the walls of the house, reflecting the facial expressions that their creator, Juan Alberto Artega Ruiz, better known to locals as "Don Paco", gave them. The trained bricklayer lived in this village since his birth in 1910 and died at the age of 87. All this time he kept adding his original creations, made of cement and sand and embellished with various elements such as stones, snails, deer antlers and the curious shells of the area. After shaping them by hand and shaping them into the desired shape, he painted them while they were still fresh in order to better preserve the color, always in bright and bold tones, just as we can see them today. According to Don Paco, the facial expressions were painted depending on his mood. We can see happy, sad, surprised and even some with extraterrestrial characteristics...
